Freak Ball of 1893 (detail)- At the Columbian World Exposition, a grand ball was held where the elite mixed with the various fair performers. The wealthy danced and drank with belly dancers, Indians, little people, etc. This piece is comprised of 25 small plastic rectangles held together by jump rings. |
Buttons: A Mystery- this full sized quilt tells of the disappearance of one of my family members in the 50's. Many theories were given including mob hit, secret labotomy, and the possibility that she was in hiding. Although detectives were hired, to this day, no one in my family knows exactly what befell of her. |
"The Black Dahlia: Before and After"- These two needlepoint pieces show Elizabeth Short. 'Before' is from one of the most known photos of the murdered woman. The 'After' is taken from one of her autopsy photos. This mystery remains unsolved although many have a theory. Several books have been written which claim to solve the murder. These theories have yet to be proved. |
